Help the Hospices has announced that applications are being accepted for the 2010 round of Wolfson international bursaries. This grant programme seeks to increase and improve the provision of palliative care in resource-poor Commonwealth countries.

Bursaries are available for individuals from eligible countries to attend one of the following courses only:

 

• diploma in palliative care – University of Cape Town, South Africa
• diploma in palliative care – Hospice Africa Uganda
• health professionals course in palliative care – Hospice Africa Uganda
• diploma in palliative care – Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network
• diploma (HE) in palliative care – Oxford Brookes University/Nairobi Hospice
• foundation course in palliative care – CanSupport, Delhi
• national fellowship programme in palliative medicine – Institute of Palliative Medicine, Calicut
• basic certificate course in palliative nursing/medicine – Pain and Palliative Care Society, Calicut

Total available funding in this round is £37,000 and Help the Hospices is looking to make individual grants of up to £1,500. There are no deadlines for applications. You can apply for a grant at any time, on a first come first served basis. As the budget is limited, once the funds have been allocated the programme will close.
